Hi all y’all! See that half windmill above our mantel? Of coarse you do. It’s kinda hard to miss. Well, I have another one with your name on it that will be for sale tomorrow in our booth at The Rustique Diva Vintage Market. Come snag it while you can! Oh hey, see those galvanized wall hanging planters? I have a few sets of these as well. Yup, it’s true! These are great ways to add a touch of farmhouse charm to your home. Have a wonderful Friday and don’t forget to come by and see us tomorrow!

Fresh Citrus Cleaning Solution for the Home

IMG_0232

If you’re reading this you must have an interest in making your cleaning routine safe for you and your family to use. This past year I’ve been working towards ridding our home of toxins. Both in what we put into our bodies in the form of food as well as in the form of cleaning supplies. I’m by no means a pro. But I am trying. And that’s the first step.

This is one cleaning solution that works well for cleaning counters, sinks, and floors. It’s super easy and it makes use of all the orange peels we go through with four little citrus lovers.

IMG_0230

  • 1 quart mason jar
  • 1 orange peel
  • 1 lemon peel and juice
  • white vinegar
  • water

**Fill a wide mouth mason jar with the orange and lemon. Then add the vinegar until filled. Let sit for 12-24 hours. Mix 1:1 citrus cleaning solution with water. Place in spray bottles and use as desired! There ya have it folks. Simple, fresh and clean.

**add more water if needed depending on your vinegar tolerance. wink.

Farmhouse Friday

IMG_0033

Welcome to Farmhouse Friday at The White Barn Farm. Thanks for coming by today. We are always happy to have you join in on our story! Speaking of story, look at this cutie boy reading his “Vroom Vroom” book. A book with tractors (AKA vroom vroom) is a favorite with this kid. For today’s Farmhouse Friday I wanted to share with you how we keep a box of library books in our living room. It’s an extremely helpful way to keep the ‘library stash’ separated from our other books in our home. I simply use an old apple crate and the kids know it’s where they can always find the library books. Anytime, a book is not far off. I love it. And I think they do too. The easier it is to access the more likely they will venture into that box to read. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to read to this cutie boy about his Vroom Vroom’s. His mama will talk to you again soon. Have a wonderful weekend, friends!

A chick and a girl

IMG_0058

I can’t even. This girl is in love from the very movement they arrived. What a team. She carries them around in her hat, her baskets (of all sizes), her bike, her scooter, her shirt, and her bed if I’d let her!…and no, no I haven’t. I’m not that crazy farm lady (yet). It’s true, getting chicks brought into your life makes you take another step into ‘farm life’. I do believe we’ve succeeded. They’ve arrived. They’ve survived (for now). And they are beyond loved. Even the smell in our garage, because let’s be honest there is a smell, is welcomed. I’m loving it. My farmgirl-mama heart is happy. So, I join you L-Belle in loving this sweet simple life of holding a chick and taking them wherever we roam. Let’s do this for years to come. I’ve been learning that it’s either stirred within to embrace the farm life or not. For me… let’s just say my wooden spoon is getting worn out from all the stirring! This could be an exciting adventure folks. Thanks for coming along with us.

A White Barn Farm Easter

IMG_0148

We are welcoming Easter this weekend with hearts made new. What a glorious day to celebrate. Our home is a reflection of such joy. After all, our Savior is Risen! He has Risen indeed. As I am doing my best to simplify our life (more to come on that another day) I still have found it rewarding to decorate our home for the joy of the season. The kids love it, and I do too. Here is how our home is all ‘dressed-up’ for Easter…

Vintage garden tools make for a rustic and homey means to decorate while bringing the freshness of the gardening season indoors.

A few burlap and lace wrapped Easter eggs hang from our dining chandelier. It’s the little things.

An oatmeal colored linen table cloth runs the length of our table. I love the consistency of color and the farmhouse design it brings.

A galvanized lantern with some faux greens to bring a splash of color as well as height to our center piece. The rustic box is another fabulous way to gain height and set apart your decor.

I had fun using garden stakes for name settings this year. I love these chalkboard ones so I can reuse over and over. The herb stakes at each napkin setting are a cute way to add some spring fling to the table as well.

This multi-color felt garland makes for a perfectly cheerful splash of color to our table. I casually set it across the table and raised center piece. Don’t over think it. Mix and match textures and layers. I guarantee you’ll be happily surprised at all the beauty you can create in your home. Give it a try!

We don’t have the ‘traditional’ Easter baskets, rather these adorable floppy eared bunny bags. Cute, I know right! I’ve enjoyed having them ‘hang-out’, no pun intended, all month for us to enjoy and anticipate the upcoming holiday.

That’s all folks… Tomorrow is Easter Morning!!!

Farmhouse Friday

IMG_0157 (1)

Hi y’all! Thanks for coming by. Isn’t this egg too adorable for words?! The mint green farm fresh egg in a pink and gold polka dot egg cup. I mean, really. Nuff said. Am I right?! Today is quite a day. Not because it’s Farmhouse Friday here at The White Barn Farm, but because it is also Good Friday. There is much to reflect on today as we remember the road Christ walked for us to calvary. I am broken and humbled by it each year that this day comes around. I hope you find time to rest and reflect on the goodness of Christ’s sacrifice all those years ago, and yet how it radically affects us still to this today. Rich blessings to you and your home as we remember and celebrate the joy of The Risen Savior. Today was dark, but Sunday is comin’. Amen for that!

Farmhouse Friday

IMG_0047

Home. Our home. Each spring our valley is surrounded by snowcapped mountains and fresh green hills. It truly is a fairytale. Today’s Farmhouse Friday is taking a look at where we call home in hopes to encourage you to take a walk and see the beauty where you live. It may or may not be a picture perfect place with rollings hills, rivers, and orchards, but it is home. Your home. Your local. And that is beautiful. Your home is what you make of it and how you choose to view it. Make it a blessing by seeking the blessing. Set your mind towards it. Search for it. It’s there. I promise. You may struggle to find something to see as a blessing. But it’ll be worth the fight. Something wonderful will be born in your heart and overflow into your home. So today let us embrace the gift of where we each call home. Bless your home, friends, and Happy Farmhouse Friday. It’s always a joy to have you.

Farmhouse Friday

Happy Farmhouse Friday to you! Pretty self explanatory today, wouldn’t you say? Galvanized trays are a staple in the home. Add some greens and a farmhouse sign, ah just right. I love trays. Sweet and simple with a touch of farmhouse charm. Can’t get much better than that. I love trays; have I said that yet? Enjoy the weekend, friends!

*Farmhouse Sign crafted by IG friend Stacie with The QC Ranchette. Come by The White Barn Farm booth at Rustique Divas April 29th for similar homemade signs brought to you by Paloma and Grace. We look forward to seeing you there!
